Salary or Pay Range: $13,141.67 - $28,241.67 Monthly
This position is the Pharmacy Manager for our oncology and Investigational Drugs Service (IDS) areas. The Manager works closely with the Oncology/IDS Assistant Chief to identify areas of improvement and solutions, ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness and efficiency. The Oncology/IDS Services Manager serves as the primary USP 800 Designee, ensuring compliance with all aspects of USP 800 and handling of hazardous drugs throughout the facility. The Oncology/IDS Pharmacy Manager ensures oncology and IDS pharmacy areas maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission and professional practice standards, as well as University and department policies, procedures and standards. The Oncology/IDS Manager is also responsible for supervision of pharmacist and technician supervisors and staff. The Oncology/IDS Manager maintains oversight of documentation and assessment of staff competency and training. The Oncology/IDS Manager works closely with the Assistant Chief and oncology and IDS pharmacy staff to facilitate optimum drug utilization, preparation and waste; oversee operational aspects of Oncology and IDS pharmacy services, inventory control and regulatory compliance. Assists the Chief Pharmacist and other members of the management team to plan, implement and monitor new programs and processes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy services. Plans and coordinates the development of pharmacists and technicians to meet regulatory requirements and patient needs. Serves as departmental liaison with Patient Care Services and other departments. Participates on departmental and interdisciplinary committees. The pharmacist also participates in clinical and operational assignments. Their responsibility is to provide delivery of optimal drug therapy. This includes appropriate drug selection, administration, dosing, and computer order processing. Pharmacists also monitor drug therapy to achieve desired outcomes and avoid drug toxicity. The pharmacist works as an integral part of the patient care team and assists physicians and nurses in providing drug therapy.
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.
- California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire. Out of State Pharmacist eligible to apply. If out-of-state Pharmacist, must obtain California Pharmacist licensure within 6 months of hrie.
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent training
- Experience in health-system, hospital or infusion pharmacy
- Experience in sterile compounding and oversight of compliance with BOP and USP regulations
- Experience in oversight of hazardous drugs and regulatory requirements related to USP800
- Lead or supervisory experience within a hospital or Infusion Pharmacy setting
- Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others.
- Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, and ability to anticipate and effectively handles change.
- Customer service orientation to respond quickly and with empathy to patient issues.
- Ability to organize operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving workflow systems and protocols.
- Ability to collaborate within and across departments to coordinate daily Pharmacy activities and resolve problems.
- Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff. Proven analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution.
- Ability to resolve patient issues and find solutions that satisfy all parties.
- Demonstrated ability to listen actively, consider all points of view with an open mind, soliciting and incorporating ideas when appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certification [e.g. Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP), Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist (BCSCP)], or equivalent
- Lean certifications
- Master's degree [e.g., Master of Science (MS), Master's in Healthcare Admin (MHA), Master of Business Administration (MBA)], or equivalent)
- Management experience within in a hospital or Infusion Pharmacy setting, or completion of a Health System Pharmacy Administration residency
- Previous EPIC/BEACON or equivalent CPOE
- Previous experience with clinical trials/Investigational Drugs Services
- Post Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology or IDR Residency training
Key Responsibilities
