- Pharmacy Manager
Description
The Pharmacy Manager manages the daily pharmacy operations and staff, including interpreting prescriptions, dispensing medications within regulatory guidelines, consulting with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions, and handling complex problem resolution. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements.
Pharmacy Hours: 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. No weekends.
Responsibilities:
This Pharmacy Manager role is responsible for dispensing of animal health medications in a closed-door Pharmacy setting; verifies prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
- Maintains all Pharmacy Operational Policies and Procedures.
- Consults with customers regarding medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, and specialized requirements.
- Works closely with customers in order to answer all questions and/or concerns regarding their prescriptions.
Manages all associate relations functions for the staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians such as hiring, terminations and performance management. - Monitors the overall performance of staff members to ensure compliance with policies, practices and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
- Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, and record keeping.
Performs prescription verification of unit dose orders, order entry, providing technical guidance to staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians. - Responds to customer inquiries, requests and issues when situations get escalated to a higher level of authority.
- Provides consulting on pharmaceutical matters to various levels of personnel regarding pharmacy operations.
- Reviews daily reporting and scheduling of hours worked for the staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians.
- Supervises activities relative to customer files and contacts, ensuring that they are updated as needed to comply with current licensing.
- Leads department meetings and in-service training for staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians..
- Responsible for maintaining pharmacy licensure in multiple states to operate as a nonresident mailorder pharmacy.
- Responsible for maintaining the pharmacistincharge license in the state of Pennsylvania and required pharmacist licenses in multiple states for nonresident mailorder pharmacy operations.
- Required to hold, or obtain within 120 days of hire, additional state pharmacist licenses to support multistate nonresident mailorder pharmacy operations.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Requires two (2)+ years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least one (1) year in a management role; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Unrestricted, current state license as a Registered Pharmacist in resident state is required.
