Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Pediatrics
Salary or Pay Range: $7,792.26 - $8,775.79 Biweekly
The Senior Pharmacist is an advanced practitioner in a specialized area of pharmacy practice, providing drug therapy and pharmacological consultation on the most complex patients and overseeing the competency level of other pharmacy staff in their designated specialty. In addition, the incumbent serves a lead role in the management of drug costs in their designated therapeutic area(s) and, to facilitate cost containment: a) collects and presents, or facilitates the collection and presentation of data to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee on the use of non-formulary or restricted medications, b) works with the P&T Committee Coordinator to develop, facilitate, and/or conduct drug use evaluations, c) works with pharmacy leadership in managing drug costs. The Senior Pharmacist also participates in medical staff committees as requested and be a liaison to the Clinical Pharmacology Consult Service.
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.
- California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR within 90 days of employment
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-certified school of pharmacy, or equivalent training.
- Completion of Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) training at an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited program, or 5 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in quality improvement, project management, or professional service
- Ability to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Ability to collaborate and work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment, including the ability to manage projects and deadlines, and to set and meet goals and priorities for self and others with minimal supervision
- Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem, identify the resources available to help solve the problem, create and implement viable solutions, and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties
- Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to act, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times
- Working knowledge of federal and state/local regulations around medication handling requirement and controlled substance accountability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a sound work ethic
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines
- Ability to coach and mentor pharmacy residents, students, and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in respective specialty area, if currently available within the profession
