This job provides support to the Ochsner Health System pharmacies to improve and optimize the steps necessary to get medications from a supplier to a patient. The support focuses on inventory, purchasing, receiving and distribution. The pharmacy supply chain coordinator will support the system's initiatives to implement new policies, or modify existing procedures, to minimize cost, reduce waste, increase accuracy, and improve safety through the pharmacy distribution process. This position will work closely with the current staff and Ochsner Pharmacy Buyers servicing the Ochsner Health System patient population. The majority of work will be completed in an office atmosphere with periodic site visit to the pharmacies. Work will be performed in conjunction with the 340B split billing software, wholesaler, and System Supply Chain staff.
Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Additional degrees, business training experience and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.
Work Experience
Required - 10 years pharmacy purchasing or related pharmacy experience
Preferred -Ability to coordinate diverse information into management data and reports
Effective Leadership and teaching skills are required
Communication and Multi tasking
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with all members of pharmacy team
Knowledge of or ability to learn and master pharmacy management software (Sentry Data Systems, Pyxis and Cardinal Health) to support Pharmacy Supply Chain Programs
Knowledge of or ability to learn and master Excel and Access
Knowledge of or ability to learn regulations and guidelines of Pharmacy Supply Chain
Attention to detail and ability to analyze and prioritize projects to meet the needs of the system
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of or ability to learn and master pharmacy management software (Sentry Data Systems, Pyxis and Cardinal Health) to support Pharmacy Supply Chain Programs
- Knowledge of or ability to learn and master Excel and Access
- Knowledge of or ability to learn regulations and guidelines of Pharmacy Supply Chain
- Strong organizational skills and Detailed oriented
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and delegations skills
- Ability to coordinate diverse information into management data and reports
Job Duties
- Support implementation of pharmacy supply chain initiatives / financial stability
- Serve as technical resource to pharmacies buyers
- Assist with data management to support supply chain programs, compliance and the safe medication use processes
- Assist with staff educations and training for pharmacy procurement
- Participate in quality assurance activities related to the medication use process or specified program
